An Elegant Pair of Queen Anne/George I Silver-Gilt Cast Candlesticks by Matthew Cooper
The candlesticks are hallmarked for London one dated 1705 & the other 1717, both are marked with the lion's head erased, each capital is marked with a lion's head erased (partially erased). The maker's mark is for Matthew Cooper, a renowned maker if fine candlesticks. The later stick is also finely inscribed to the underneath 'The Gift of Sarah Cheslyn Finn to Clare Cheslyn Finn 1717'.
These rare candlesticks are beautifully designed & decorated and in such excellent condition. Of very thick gauge and with an exceptional patina.
