A Magnificent William IV Irish Silver Salver Dublin 1835
A very large circular salver with cast and applied rim of floral and foliate design. The central plate embossed with floral, foliate and shell form arabesques. In the centre is a dedication inscription to Canon Fleming from a member of his congregation. The whole standing on four scrolling feet with shell design.
Marked to the underside for Dublin 1835 by I.N
This is an exceptional large Irish piece with superb decoration. Of very good quality and weight. No damage or repairs and with very fine definition to all the decoration. The inscription is of historic interest as James Fleming was chaplain ordinary to Queen Victoria and King Edward VII. (For considerable details please see Fleming’s Wikipedia entry).
