A very fine George III shaped circular salver with a cast gallery, Walter Tweedie, London, 1766. Standing on three openwork, foliate and scroll feet, the centre engraved with a coat-of-arms within a ribbon-tied foliate cartouche, the cast and applied gallery with an openwork chinoiserie border decorated with pagodas, birds of paradise and seated oriental figures.
Hallmarked to the reverse tor London 1766 by Walter Tweedie, the cast rim is also marked with the Lion Passant and Walter Tweedie’s maker’s mark.
This salver is in excellent condition, of very thick gauge with no repairs, splits or erasures. Stands true on a flat surface and has a wonderful patina.
