An Exceptional Pair of Georgian Silver Entree Dishes by Paul Storr London 1826

A pair of George IV silver entree dishes or vegetable tureens of shaped circular form with molded gadrooned rims. The sides engraved with leopard’s head crest. The conforming high dome melon fluted covers engraved on two sides with contemporary armorials. The cast silver handles in the form of heraldic leopard heads.
Marked for London 1826 by Paul Storr. Fully marked to each dish and cover and to the base of each finial. The nuts securing the finials marked with the lion passant.
Dishes numbered 1 and 2.
An important and rare pair of early silver dishes by the most impressive silversmith of the nineteenth century. As is to be expected of the work of Paul Storr, the silversmithing is of the finest. Both dishes are in superb original condition with no damage or repairs and of wonderful colour and patina.
These dishes were sold in New York in April 2008. Lot 263 in the sale of The Celebration of the English Country House.
