A Beautiful Pair of Heavy George III Silver Sauce Boats by Richard Mills London 1765
A very fine rare pair of heavy silver sauce boats of circular form with gadrooned borders, each with a double c-scroll handle and standing on three hoof feet.
Each is engraved to the side with a crest of a lion holding a cross.
Marked for London 1765 by Richard Mills. (Mark registered 14th July 1755)
This pair are in very good condition with only a few minor repairs. Hallmarks are partially rubbed but still clear. (see photos)
Both stand true with none of the legs pressed in to the body.
These sauce boats are of a very good gauge and weight with a beautiful colour and patina.
Sauce boats of this age and weight are very rare and these are a truly wonderful pair of Georgian sauce boats in remarkably fine condition.
They would make a beautiful addition to any collection.
