£17,500
Absolutely superb set of four cast Silver table candlesticks by specialist maker William Cafe on stepped square bases with fluted edge with a spiral twist to the bottom of the stem rising to a fluted knop and a further spiral decorated knop below a cotton reel capital with gadrooned borders. The sconces of square form with fluted spiral form gadrooned borders.
Each Candlestick is clearly marked to the underside for London 1768 by William Cafe. The sconces are also marked with the lion passant and one has a makers mark still visible.
The candlestickssticks are in absolutely spectacularly good original condition with remarkably little wear to any of the decoration. No sign of any damage or repair. Each stick has a notch from 1 to 4 on the top of the capital and the corresponding set of notches to the underside of the sconces. All the hallmarks to the underside of the sticks are clearly struck and quite legible. The marks to the sconces more worn.
These really are highly unusual and not often seen in such an attractive pattern and in such first-class order.
