A Very Fine George III Silver Basket by William Plummer, London 1761. Of oval form, with pierced sides alternating in sections between cross and foliate patterns separated by tapering embossed beaded design. Shell and gadrooned boarder. Rope twist pierced handle all standing on a pierced foot.
Hallmarked for London 1761, makers mark for William Plummer. The handle is marked with the lion passant.
The hallmarks are well struck and very clear.
This basket is in superb condition. Some wear to some of the embossed decoration. Of a good gauge and has a wonderful colour and patina and stands true.
This is a wonderful example of William Plummer's work displaying the exquisite pierced work of this highly collectable silversmith.
