The lid has a handle depicting vineleaves and a bunch of grapes. The neck is of ribbed shell form. The glass body is faceted to the neck and base and the central body is finely engraved with grapes, vineleaves and stems.
Marked to the underside of the neck and inside of the lid with marks for London 1860 by George Emmerton.
This is an absolutely spectacular claret jug of the very highest order. Both silver work and the glass display astonishing artistry and the whole is in first class condition. Highly unusual and rarely encountered this really makes an exceptional addition to any table setting.
