A highly unusual very early Victorian silver mounted amethyst glass claret jug or wine decanter of circular bellied form.
The purple glass body with a narrow octagonal neck featuring a silver mount with pierced scrolling pattern and a bifurcated handle with pierced tailpiece and removable cork stopper.
Marked for London 1839 by Charles Reily and George Storer. Silversmiths renowned for their intricate work.
Monogrammed to the inside lip with a lion rampant.
This is a wonderful piece in superb order, of uncommon colour and very fine silver work. No damage or repairs.
The hallmarks are to the underside of the neck and very clear indeed.
