A Superb Regency Paul Storr Silver Salver, London 1823
A superb Paul Storr silver salver of shaped circular form with scrolling acanthus & shell pattern, cast & applied rim. The whole resting on three cast feet. The center of the salver is engraved with a scrolling floral and shell design.
Clearly hallmarked for London 1823 by the illustrious silversmith Paul Storr, at the height of his career.
This museum quality salver is in excellent condition, of a very good gauge and has a wonderful colour and patina. The decoration to the boarder retails it's original superb detail. The hallmarks are clear and well struck.
Paul Storr's reputation rests on his mastery of the grandiose neo-Classical style developed in the Regency period, of which this highly sought-after salver is a beautiful example. Well proportioned and superbly made, a delightful addition to any collection.
