A Superb Georgian Irish Silver Basket Dublin 1760

Spectacular pierced Irish silver bread or cake basket of shaped oval form. The swing handle of pierced graduated circlets. The shaped rim with gadrooned edges and cast flowers and foliage. The whole standing on a cast silver apron of floral swags with four scrolling pad feet. The central body engraved with an armorial.
Marked for Dublin 1760 and the original scratch weight to the underside of 45.11 ounces Troy. No maker’s mark apparent.
This is a highly unusual and very attractive George III Irish basket of exceptional weight. In absolutely original condition. The marks are rubbed but still legible. The hinges are good and it stands well.
Wonderful colour and patina.
