A Superb Pair of George II Cast Silver Candlesticks by William Cafe London 1757
A very good pair of George II cast silver table candlesticks with cast scrolling bases and square knop of conforming pattern above a circular knop with rope twist border. The spool shaped capitals also with rope twist decoration. The sconces of conforming pattern.
Both very clearly marked to the underside for London 1757 by William Cafe. Each sconce is marked with the lion passant and the makers mark.
Each capital is marked with the lion passant. Crested to the base of each with an elephant's head.
Absolutely the creme de la creme of cast silver candlesticks in excellent original condition with no damage or repair. They both stand true and the sconces are a good fit.
Very good weight and clearly struck marks. As good a pair as can be found. Lovely colour and patina.
