This heavy pair of Georgian silver entrée dishes are each of oval-fluted form with cast borders with floral decoration. The raised covers have fluted sides with a floral decorative band to the top, rising to a cast handle with matching decoration. Both the covers and bases are engraved with coat-of-arms.

The bases and covers are hallmarked for London 1818 by Joseph Angell. The handles are marked with the lion passant and the duty mark, and the wing-nuts are marked with the lion passant.

These entrée dishes are in exceptionally fine condition with excellent fitting lids and few minor scratches from use. Of a very good weight due to their thick gauge. Such ornate Georgian entrée dishes are rare to find, and these dishes exemplify Joseph Angell’s superb silversmithing skills.
