A very high quality George II silver coffee pot of baluster form. The steeply domed lid with a pierced bell shaped finial.
The swan neck spout with ribbed and engraved decoration. The fruit wood C- scroll handle with decoratively shaped mounts.
The whole profusely and exquisitely embossed with floral designs. A fine heraldic armorial to one side.
Marks for London 1749 by Ayme Videau, one of the finest Huguenot silversmiths who specialised in exceptionally important coffee pots.
The lid is marked with the maker's mark only. Some of his work is held in the V&A museum in London.
The pot is in wonderful condition .
The handle is firm. There is a small amount of movement to the hinge from use.
The finial is fractionally off centre. Absolutely original condition with no repairs, damage or erasures.
