A Very Fine Late Victorian Silver Tea/Drinks Tray Sheffield 1890
A superb quality twin-handled silver tea or drinks tray of octagonal form. The cast and applied pierced border with undulating rim and floral decoration. The central plate with an intricately engraved border of flowers and foliage surrounding a contemporary monogram of an M. The two cast handles of richly detailed fruit and foliage supported by two bacchus masks to the underside. The whole standing on four bun feet.
Clearly marked to the base for Sheffield 1890 by Martin Hall and Co.
This is a spectacular tray of superb craftsmanship in very thick gauge silver. The decoration throughout is crisp and well defined with no wear. There is no damage or repair. The hallmarks are very clear. In absolutely excellent original condition.
